This is the nicest week that we have had in Ithaca for quite sometime. There’s a chance of morning fog today, like there was yesterday. The abundance of low level moisture due to recent rains and snowmelt is causing this fog. If we have fog at all, expect it to clear sooner than it did yesterday, but expect cooler temperatures as opposed to yesterday, due to our favorite friend in the world: cold air advection. Notice the cold low temperatures for each night. These temperatures aren’t typos, and I’m not stupid. It’s because there will be a great lack of clouds in the next few nights. Since clouds absorb radiation coming from the earth, and there will be a lack of clouds, no radiation (heat) will be absorbed, causing colder night temperatures. I hope you enjoyed this meteorology lesson.
