September 25, 2008 - 11:00pmEvery day, my walk to class involves an elevator that is consistently out of order, at least two (large) sets of stairs, several imposing hills and narrow, overcrowded classrooms that make it near impossible to get to a seat without knocking out at least three innocent bystanders with my bag. All of this, of course, includes crossing several car-infested streets, avoiding power-walking freshmen and usually a hurried phone call or two.
But do all students have the luxury of enduring such a mindless, albeit painful, walk? Students with disabilities are not always visible at Cornell. But is this a reflection of University policy and lack of accessability? This week, Eclipse investigates this oft-forgotten community of Cornell students, many of whom face challenges enduring otherwise mindless tasks like walking (trekking, really) to class.
But for now, enjoy a few days off from your trek to North Campus for a 10:10 (maybe that’s just me). Check out what’s going on this weekend in the events calendar, or a few new things to try at CTB (I’ve already made my way through numbers one and three, and the advice was pretty delicious).
Either way, relax, and enjoy your week with Eclipse. We may not have a crossword puzzle, but we still hope you enjoy reading. As always, let us know what you think at eclipse@cornellsun.com.
Cheers,
Leigha Kemmett
