Avicii Homecoming Show at Barton Hall, 8 p.m. on Saturday: Cornellians showed Avicii some Superlove, when tickets to his Homecoming show sold out in a record 35 minutes. The Swedish D.J. and record producer is best-known for his electro-synth tracks. Already one of the most recognized D.J.s in Europe, Avicii has steadily been gaining popularity in the U.S. as well, thanks to his radio-friendly hit “Levels” and current North American tour. For those lucky enough to procure those tickets, the Cornell Concert Commission promises a night of glowstick mania and raucous excitement. — Charley Du
Rusted Root at The Haunt, 9 p.m. on Wednesday: You may only know them for their mind-bending and catchy 1995 hit, “Send Me On My Way” — if you don’t know it, don’t look it up, for it will haunt your dreams forever. But Rusted Root offers more than simple one-hit-wonder nostalgia. Drawing from a potent blend of African, Native American, and Latin American influences, Rusted Root has sold three million albums worldwide. The band’s music has appeared in films like “Ice Age” and “Matilda.” Doors open at 8 p.m. — Sam Bromer
Glee Club Homecoming Concert at Bailey Hall, 8 p.m. on Saturday: Didn’t get tickets to Avicii? The Cornell University Glee Club offers a happy alternative. The oldest student group on campus will be performing its Annual Homecoming concert under the direction of John Rowehl. In harmony and tuxedos, the boys will take on the evergreen theme of friendship and premiere new music. Expect a memorable and uplifting night that is distinctively Cornell. Claudia Emerson Poetry Reading at Hollis E. Cornell Auditorium, Goldwin Smith Hall, 4.30 p.m. on Thursday: American poet Claudia Emerson gives a reading this Thursday from her vast and distinguished body of work. Winner of the 2006 Pulitzer Prize for her poetry collection Late Wife, she has been featured in poetry journals such as Poetry, Southern Review, Shenandoah, TriQuarterly and the New England Review. She was the Poet Laureate of Virginia from 2008 to 2010. Besides working on her newest collection, Secure the Shadow, Emerson teaches English and holds the Arrington Distinguished Chair in Poetry at Mary Washington College in Fredricksburg, V.A. — Lubabah Chowdhury
