Test Spins: The Flaming Lips, The Terror

Matt Hudson  —  Apr 18, 2013

Striking a vinyl baker’s dozen is no small feat; in fact, so far have the Flaming Lips come since the psychedelic grunge of ’86 debut Hear It Is, that their legacy has become self-referent. Guiding the rudder in the haphazardly brilliant direction of his choosing, Wayne Coyne pilots the Lip ship onward through choppy, unknown waters in the interest of a genuine, wonderfully nuanced curiosity.— Matt Hudson ’15 reviews new album, The Terror.

Test Spins: Ghostface Killah, 12 Reasons to Die

Scott Goldberg  —  Apr 18, 2013

Meet Tony Starks.  Or should I say, Ghostface Killah.  A master of treading the line between dual identities, the former Wu Tang Clan member ruthlessly incites images of blood, murder and crime on his tenth studio album 12 Reasons to Die.

Student Fashion Spotlight: Anu Lingala ’13

Sarah Angell  —  Apr 18, 2013

This week, The Sun was given the opportunity to probe the talented mind of Anu Lingala ’13, a senior in the fiber science and apparel design program. Lacking in sleep, but looking no worse for wear, Lingala has been busy at work in preparation for the upcoming CFC Fashion Show, which takes place on April 27. Drawing inspiration from the opulence of Versailles and the Rococo period, Lingala’s line imagines a wardrobe that a modern Marie Antoinette might covet. Aptly titled Crown on the Ground, Lingala’s visual cacophony of brocade, velvet and silks is sure to be a sumptuous affair.

Blind Faith Moves a Mountain at the Readers'

Daveen Koh  —  Apr 17, 2013

There is no air on this Savage Mountain. Pummelling walls of ice, a lawyer and a physicist tear through the big questions of life and love, with more than a few raucous jokes thrown in. Daveen Koh ’13 reviews K2, the final production of the 2012-13 season at Readers' Theatre.

Knockin' on Barton's Door: Bob Dylan Performs at Barton Hall

Zachary Zahos  —  Apr 16, 2013

The Dylan who performed last Sunday at Barton Hall may not have bore even a passing resemblance to the folk legend of old — but that's a great thing, writes Zachary Zahos '15.

JACOBS: While SNL Wanes, Miguel Shines

Peter Jacobs  —  Apr 16, 2013

On an otherwise lackluster (as usual) SNL, Miguel didn’t just subvert expectations, he rewrote them, writes Peter Jacobs ‘13.
