Women’s Hockey Wins ECAC Championship Game Against Clarkson, 4-3
March 9th, 2010Less than eight minutes into overtime, senior co-captain Liz Zorn backhanded a pass from behind Clarkson’s net to sophomore forward Kendice Ogilvie, who flicked the puck over the shoulder of a sprawling Golden Knights’ goaltender, and just like that, the women’s hockey team’s dream season reached new heights with the program’s first ever ECAC Championship.

Polo Teams Defeat Toronto Polo Club at Home
March 9th, 2010The men’s and women’s polo teams bounced back from losses against a very talented Toronto Polo Club last weekend at Oxley. This allowed for both teams to finish the regular season with victories and enter the Northeast Regional on the right track.
The men’s squad (11-4) came from behind to defeat Toronto 18-5 in a game where junior captain and leading scorer Max Constant did not participate because of an injury. On the other hand, the women’s side (13-1) closed the regular campaign with a 19-16 victory over Toronto after losing its first game of the season against Kentucky the week before.

Men’s Lacrosse Team Survives Overtime Thriller Against Army with a 12-11 Win
March 9th, 2010The men’s lacrosse team has maintained an undefeated season beginning as it moves to 3-0 after a close Saturday afternoon game against Army (1-3) that concluded in the Red’s favor, 12-11.
The victory was taken during the last 41 seconds of sudden death overtime at Shoellkopf Field by senior attacker Ryan Hurley’s 102nd career goal. Read More

Track Teams Finish as Top Ivy Schools at Respective Championships
March 9th, 2010After a somewhat disappointing showing at the Heptagonal Ivy League Championships, the men’s track team rebounded in a huge way by tying for third in the IC4A Championships held at Boston University this past weekend. The women’s team finished off its strong indoor season with another great showing by finishing fifth at the ECAC Championships.
Both the men’s and women’s teams finished as the top Ivy League school competitors in the meet with an attack that had over 16 scoring performances and even more All-East performers at the two-day event. Read More
Softball Kicks-Off Season With Four Straight Wins in Virginia
March 9th, 2010The softball team started off its season with four straight wins against Marist College, Bucknell University and George Mason University this weekend in Fairfax, Va. On Saturday, the Red defeated Marist, 10-1, and Bucknell, 10-6, then followed up with a 6-1 win over Bucknell and a 2-1 win over George Mason. Read More
Men’s Tennis Succumbs to Ivy League Powerhouse Columbia at Home
March 9th, 2010During every sports season there comes a time when a team must prove itself against a fierce conference rival. In a matchup of the Ivy League’s most prominent men’s tennis program, it was the Columbia Lions (7-3, 1-0 Ivy) that stormed into the Reis Tennis Center and earned an impressive 6-1 victory over Cornell. The Red (7-4, 0-1 Ivy) took the loss in its first Ivy match of the season, after enjoying a strong period of non-conference play over the past two months. Read More
Squash Teams End 2009-10 Campaign at Individual Championships
March 9th, 2010This weekend marked the final matches of the 2009-10 squash season as 10 Cornellians traveled to the Kellner Squash Center at Trinity College for the Individual Championships. Men’s head coach Mark DeVoy accompanied senior Chris Sachvie, sophomore Alex Domenick and freshmen Arjun Gupta and Rishi Jalan to the tournament. Under women’s coach Julee DeVoy, Cornell sent seniors Becka Hazell, Liza Stokes and Rachel Wagner, junior Jen Gemmell, sophomore Shivangi Paranjpe and freshman Jaime Laird. Read More

On Friday night the Red made good on its bid for a three-peat, topping Brown 95-76 in Providence to become the first team this year to clinch an NCAA tournament berth. Read More
Women's Basketball Honors Seniors After Closing Out Tough Season at Home
March 8th, 2010This weekend marked the end of an era for the women’s basketball team. For one last time, the trio of senior captains took the court in Newman Arena and played their hearts out against their Ivy League foes. Unfortunately, both Brown (8-19, 5-8 Ivy) and Yale (13-15, 8-6 Ivy) were able to topple the Red (7-20, 2-12 Ivy) on its home court, causing the end of the season to be even more upsetting for the seniors.
